How to detect terminal short circuit fault?

Failure of wires and terminals may also be caused by a short circuit between the wiring harness and the body (ground) or within the relevant switch. Before the inspection, first check whether the terminals on the body are firmly fixed, and then perform the test according to the following steps.

1. Check the continuity of the wires
First remove the wiring terminals on both sides of the control computer ECU and the sensor, and then measure the resistance between the corresponding terminals of the terminals. If the resistance value is not greater than 1 ohm, it means that the wire is normal, so that the next step can be checked. When measuring lead resistance, it is best to shake the lead slightly in both vertical and horizontal directions to improve measurement accuracy. At the same time, note that for most lead terminals, the multimeter probe should be inserted from the rear end of the connector, but for The waterproof terminal meter stick of the waterproof case cannot be inserted from the rear end, because the terminal will be deformed if you are not careful when inserting it.

2. Check the resistance value of the short circuit
First remove the wire terminals on both sides of the control computer ECU and the sensor, and then measure the resistance between each terminal block of the connectors on both sides and the body. When measuring, one end of the meter stick is connected to the body with iron, and the other end is measured on the wire connectors on both sides. If the resistance value is greater than 1 ohm, it means that there is no short circuit fault between the wire and the body.

3. Terminal appearance and contact pressure inspection
First of all, each terminal should be removed one by one, and there is no rust and dirt on the connector terminals, and the rust and dirt should be cleaned. Then check whether the terminal piece is loose or damaged, whether the terminal is fixed firmly, and the terminal should not be loose when pulled gently. Conversely, if the plug terminal in one of the socket holes is easier to pull out than the other socket holes, the socket hole may cause a failure of poor contact during use.
